Rutgers football announced its 2011 schedule. It will include one trip to Yankee Stadium, seven home games and four true road games.

The season will start with a home opener against North Carolina Central on Sept. 1, a Thursday night. The following Saturday they get their first test of the year with a trip down to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina.

The lone non-Saturday games are the season opener and a trip to Louisville on Friday, Oct. 21, which will be televised on ESPN.

On Nov. 12, Rutgers will play Army at Yankee Stadium, their first appearance in the Bronx since 1948. Rutgers and NYU played eight times at the Old Yankee Stadium from 1927-1948. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports.

The Big East slate starts at Syracuse on October 1 at the Carrier Dome. Along with that game, the Scarlet Knights’ other conference road games are at Louisville and a trip to Connecticut.

The game against the Huskies will close out the regular season on Nov. 26.

The remaining out-of-conference games on their schedule are home dates against Ohio and Navy. The Navy game will come Oct. 15, after the first two Big East games of the season, at the Orange and hosting Pittsburgh. Ohio comes to visit on Sept. 24 following a week off.
