NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league is reportedly "aggressively investigating" allegations that quarterback Brett Favre sent inappropriate messages and photos to a former Jets sideline reporter.
A source said the league also wants to interview two massage therapists who were reportedly sent inappropriate text messages by Favre.
The investigation, which began last Thursday, the same day Deadspin.com posted voice messages and photos that Favre allegedly sent to Jenn Sterger when both were employed by the Jets in 2008.
Sterger is reportedly willing to cooperate, but has not yet spoken with NFL investigators, ESPN reported. According to the New York Post, Goodell said once the investigation is complete, then "we'll make a determination from there."
When asked about the accuracy of the reports, Favre added, "That will take its course." Favre told ESPN he would have "no problem with talking to (Goodell)" if he is asked to meet with him.ESPN reports if Favre is suspended under the personal conduct policy, he will have 10 days to appeal and the suspension would not be enforced until after the appeal is heard. But Goodell is not a proponent of prolonged appeal processes once he has handed out disciplinary action under the personal conduct policy.
As far as legal options go, according to CBS News legal analyst Trent Copeland, the odds of a civil lawsuit against Favre and the Jets are low.
So far, there is no indication that Sterger plans on suing Favre or the Jets.
If she were to bring a suit, Copeland says that in order to win it, Sterger would have to demonstrate three things: First, that the advances were unwanted, that this was a "one way street"; Second, that she complained to the Jets; Third, that the Jets organization did nothing about it.

Meanwhile, reportedly there is a football game to be played Monday night in New Jersey. Favre, who turned 41 Sunday, is scheduled to start his 289th consecutive game when he leads the Minnesota Vikings against the Jets at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
His replacement on the New York Jets, Mark Sanchez, has been terrific the past three weeks, leading the NFL with a 117.8 passer rating while throwing eight touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Sanchez has certainly taken a big step forward in his development after leading the Jets to the AFC championship game as an inconsistent rookie. Last season was marked by mistakes, as evidenced by his 20 interceptions, and a lack of confidence. This year, Sanchez has taken command of his offense.
"We're ready to play any kind of game we need to," Sanchez said to the Associated Press.
Favre's one-year stay with the Jets has already been so thoroughly forgotten than it's barely a storyline heading into Monday night's game.
Guard Brandon Moore told ESPNNewYork.com. "He was in and out. It was a lot of fun in the beginning, but it ended badly."
Another player said, "It's like he wasn't even here."
Somewhere in Green Bay, football fans are smiling.
