On Monday, former New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress will walk out of Oneida Correctional Facility after having served 20 months for shooting himself in the thigh with an illegal handgun on Nov. 29, 2008. Running back Brandon Jacobs believes that Burress will never play for the Giants again.
According to Jacobs, Burress doesn’t think anything is wrong with the Giants’ organization, but he just wants a new start.
Speaking of new starts, one NFL player who has seen some prison time supports the idea of Burress joining his team, the Philadelphia Eagles, who gave him a fresh start two years ago. Michael Vick.
Vick told the New York Post, “He would be a great addition to our team. With the guys we have now, I think we can fit him in and make it work. The ultimate goal is to put that ring on your finger at the end of the year.”

What teams are interested in signing Plaxico Burress?
Jacobs said to the New York Post, "Philly, no question about it. Plax is a Virginia guy. Vick is a Virginia guy. He went through the same things.”
According to philly.com, the Eagles aren’t allowed to comment on Burress during the lockout, but it says the reports are a bit premature, because the team already has DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin ahead of Buress as receivers.
Some Giants want to see Burress return. Defensive end Justin Tuck told the New York Daily News: “I'll say this much: Go back and see what our record was when he shot himself (the Giants were10-1 in 2008 at the time) and how devastating our offense was.”
Burress caught the winning touchdown pass from Eli Manning in Super Bowl XLII. The Giants have expressed no interest in resigning him, but they have not ruled it out, either.
