Jersey-born U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard has been cleared to play in the World Cup on Friday against Slovenia following a collision in Saturday night's 1-1 draw against England that badly bruised his ribs.
Howard, who continued to play after England's Emile Heskey slammed into him at top speed cleat first in the 29th minute, was named man of the match. There was concern early in the week that Howard's ribs might be broken, but after further examination the team's medical staff decided no further tests were needed.
"When you see the way Timmy handled himself after the collision last night, you'd certainly expect he'll be on the field again," (U.S. Coach) Bradley told the Associated Press on Sunday.Howard attended North Brunswick High School and is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
The match between the U.S. and Slovenia can be viewed at 10 a.m. on Friday online HERE.
