Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Ruth emigrated to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 5 years old in 1990. Having to learn a new language in order to effectively speak with others, Ruth learned to appreciate her new language and the significance of communication. This experience sparked a love for writing at a very young age. Ruth is now a student at NYU, and is majoring in Creative Writing. She aims to expand her career as a freelance writer, and would like to make use of her work to expose injustice, inequality and the mistreatment of the poor all over the world. Ruth is married, still lives in Brooklyn, and is the proud mother of an English bulldog named, Luigi.
