The rumors and the stories about the long-awaited release date of the iPhone 5 still continue, but they seem to have settled on mid-October.
Beatweek Magazine reports that an Apple employee says the launch of the iPhone 5 will be in two weeks, which would be October 4th or even the 5th.
A week before a launch, Apple usually announces a media event and send out press invitations. The company generally takes around two and a half weeks from the announcement to the actual release date, so Friday October 21st would be the most likely target for an on sale date.
Gottabemobile.com speculates the release date to be more likely in about a week after announcement, putting it on sale between the 13th and the 17th of October.

The announcement of the iPhone’s upcoming release would be only two days before Sprint’s media event scheduled to brief reporters about the company’s plans for the future. This would be the likely spot to reveal if Sprint is getting the iPhone 5, as expected. T-Mobile is not expected to get the iPhone this year.
