The co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, doesn’t have the same hatred for Android phones that former CEO Steve Jobs always did. In fact, he thinks Android has moved ahead of the iPhone in a few departments.
Wozniak prefers the Android’s navigation app and likes its voice recognition. He also said he liked voice assistant Siri more before Apple bought it.
He told the Daily Beast, “My primary phone is the iPhone. But I wish it did all the things my Android does, I really do.”
About Siri, Wozniak explained, “I used to ask, 'What are the prime numbers greater than 87?' and it would answer. Now instead I get listings for prime rib, or prime real estate.”
Wozniak said there was more available on an Android phone “if you’re willing to do the work to understand it a little bit.”
Wozniak co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs, but is no longer an employee of Apple. But Mail Online reported that he recently went to Google's Mountain View campus to get their Galaxy Nexus smartphone.
Jobs had said that he felt Android was copying his ideas, and long vowed to destroy them. According to AfterDawn, former Apple engineer and Android Inc co-founder, Andy Rubin, an old friend of Jobs, redesigned the Android to make it look and feel more like the iPhone.
Wozniak also has issues with the battery life of the newer iPhones, saying, “Something happened with the new OS or the new phone, and it just started running through the battery so fast.”
But he still recommends the iPhone to most users. “I recommend the iPhone 4S for people already in the Mac world, and people who are just scared of computers altogether," he said. "The iPhone is the least frightening thing. Here’s a phone that is simple to use and does what you need it to do.”
