A man tried to carjack a pregnant woman in Manchester Township this past Thursday.
There are wiser things to do. Like wrestling a bear. You do not come between a woman and her young.
But WABC reports that according to police, on July 11 a 23-year old Toms River resident who was seven months pregnant had stopped for a red traffic signal when a man opened her driver’s side door and tried to pull her from the automobile.
The woman was able to fight him off and drive away. The incident occurred at County Road 571 and Renaissance Blvd.
Another of the attacker’s problems came after he was unsuccessful in getting the car. It is believed he may have been spotted on foot.
While police were searching the area for her attacker, Manchester police dispatch received a call of a suspicious person in the area. According to the Ocean Signal, the caller said his home’s motion detection light was activated and his car alarm began to sound. The caller observed a male running south on Wilbur Avenue, but was unable to provide a description.
Numbers are also against a potential hijacker. After the pregnant woman was interviewed, Patrolman Michael Lynch drew a composite sketch of her attacker, according to The Asbury Park Press. And the police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 732-657-6111.
The pregnant woman was treated for injuries to her neck and knuckles and released.
