An Essex County man was charged in a New Jersey grand jury indictment Wednesday with allegedly distributing child pornography over the Internet, state Attorney General Anne Milgram announced.
Angelo Crocco, 39, of Belleville, is charged with two counts of second-degree distribution of child pornography and one count of fourth-degree possession of child pornography.
The indictment alleges that Crocco distributed child pornography over the Internet by means of emails. An investigation determined that, in November 2008 and again in February, Crocco sent multiple images of child pornography from his America Online e-mail account.
Crocco was arrested on March 23 and is currently free on his own recognizance.
Members of the State Police Digital Technology Investigations Unit coordinated the investigation. Deputy Attorney General Lee Schaer is prosecuting the case
Second-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison and a $150,000 fine. Fourth-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 18 months in state prison and a $10,000 fine.
