An intensive investigation by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Irvington man earlier this morning and charged him for his role in a 2008 Elizabeth homicide, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Antwan Horton was arrested shortly before 6 a.m. Friday, said Romankow. He is charged with murder and weapon offences, for his role in the August 2008 homicide of Christopher Cunningham. Horton is also charged with the attempted murder of a 28-year-old man.

The shootings occurred on Flora Street in Elizabeth.

By following leads in this case developed while going door to door on Flora Street and sourounding streets, Homicide Task Force Detective Christopher DiFabio was able to identify Horton as a suspect.

"It is this kind of dogged police work that gets results," said Romankow. "Time and time again the Homicide Task Force has demonstrated that it has the talent and passion to get results and put violent criminals in jail."

According to the investigation, it is believed that Cunningham and the other victim were shot due to a case of misidentification.

Horton is being held at the Union County Jail on $500,000 bail.
