Vice President Biden will appear in Atlantic City Wednesday morning where he is expected to call for the re-election of Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine on Nov. 3.
Biden will address the New Jersey AFL-CIO 2009 Legislative Conference at 10:30 a.m. at the Borgata Hotel. He will be joined on stage by Corzine, who will also speak, state Sen. Loretta Weinberg, the governor's lieutenant governor running mate, and New Jersey AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech.
The event will mark Biden's second appearance in New Jersey on behalf of Corzine. The vice president made a surprise appearance at Corzine's primary election night headquarters in West Orange on June 2 to help the governor celebrate his re-nomination victory.
Biden was prepared to appear with Corzine in Pennsauken on July 28 where he was to award the state $26.8 million in federal aid to finance the hiring of 123 municipal police officers. But the event was moved to Philadelphia after federal lawmen five days earlier rounded up a string of New Jersey public officials on corruption charges. All but one of the officials were Democrats. On July 16, President Obama endorsed Corzine before an overflow crowd at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.
