For his second appearance, the article accompanying Christie’s entry on the list was written by a young N.J. resident who met with the governor following Sandy.

Ginjer Doherty, a fourth-grader from Port Monmouth met with Christie back in November and was enlisted by TIME to write about the governor according to Philly.com.

Following Sandy, Christie had mentioned Doherty as an inspiration story in one of his speeches in January as reported by Philly.com. Ever since they both met following the storm, Christie had kept in touch with the young girl and kept his promise to call her after his aide took down the number after their first meeting.

In the TIME article, Doherty recalls her encounter with Christie and how she saw him fight for N.J. in the aftermath of Sandy.

“Governor Christie came to the firehouse near my house after the big storm. Me and my mom were waiting to hear him talk. My house was all messed up, and people told us we couldn’t stay there anymore. The governor told me not to worry – that my parent would take care of everything – and he looked very serious and sad, and he cried. He said he would be back to help our town,” said Doherty in TIME Magazine.
