Chris Daggett, running as an Independent candidate for governor, also commented on the corruption charges that sent shock waves throughout New Jersey yesterday.
"It's a clear message that we need an alternative in Trenton that is not part of the broken two-party system, which controls government at virtually every level in New Jersey. Only an independent can fix the mess in Trenton, someone who is not beholden to special interests or worried about raising money to ensure their party does not lose seats in the next election. It is time for the citizens of the state to look to a candidate who is not enmeshed in a political system which seems to breed corruption from state government to town halls.
''More than anything, this points out the continuing failures of politicians from both parties to put the interests of the people of New Jersey in front of their own. Until the 2.4 million independent voters in New Jersey wake up and realize it's time to put true independents in office instead of partisan politicians, all we are doing is letting the robbers and scam artists switch jerseys."
For Daggett, being the alternative is a major part of his rationale for running.
Daggett says he, like scores of others, became convinced that "neither party is willing or able to address the fiscal and budgetary issues facing the state."
What's needed, he adds, is "someone who is independent and not beholding to special interests to step up to the issues and work with people from all over the state to get things done."
Daggett isn't one of those ideology-driven candidates who have limited appeal. His message of change is inviting to all.
"What we need is a fresh approach," he says. "We need someone who is not at all tied by party ideology or allied with party interests. I fit that."

We nee an outsider who isn't going to sell out taxpayers to serve the best interests of the corrupt system in this state. He realizes the state's budget mess starts at the municipal level. He's also has no problems calling the kettle black when he says the corruption in this state runs from the municipal and county levels all the way to Trenton. Even our family law courts are corrupt and incentivized to break up families to pump billions into the system.
I truly believe that Daggett is the only candidate who can get us back on track. Christie, he's just as corrupt as the rest, 50 million tort filed against him for extortion and using Federal contracts to pay off prosecutors and SEC officials not to prosecute his brother for stock market fraud. In fact, I would doubt if these raids a political maneuver by his buddies to help jockey him into Trenton.
