Between the House of Representatives passing a Hurricane Sandy relief bill and Flying Fish Brewery creating a beer especially for the super storm in January, New Jersey has been getting some much-needed attention.
Flying Fish is based in Cherry Hill and is the first microbrewery in Southern New Jersey and the first new brewery built in that part of the state in more than half a century.
Forever Unloved Sandy is the newest beer to come out of the company with all proceeds going to grass-roots organizations helping to rebuild in New Jersey. These groups were chosen by Flying Fish fans via social media.
The brewery expects the 100 kegs of beer to drum up to about $50,000 in sales, reported the Gothamist.
F. U. Sandy is brewed with a 50/50 blend of Two Row Pale Malt and American White Wheat.
Gene Muller and head brewer Casey Hughes say the ADHA 483 ingredient, which has never been used in a beer before, will endow the drink with a tropical mangoes and guavas taste, according to Paste Magazine.
The drink is currently draft-only and is available at these establishments.
