She’s apparently had her shots, but of a different variety.
Mailmen have weather, dogs, and other issues to deal with on top of the struggling Postal Service situation, but a woman from Mansfield assaulted a local carrier last month.
According to the Mansfield Township Police Department Facebook page, on November 9, a 52-year old Mansfield woman who was reportedly intoxicated followed the mail carrier and began yelling and cursing at him. She scratched his face at one point, and began banging on the windows of the mail truck after the man got inside to get away from her.
The postman was delivering mail in the Alexandria Apartment Complex at the time of the assault.
Mansfield Police Chief Michael Reilly said Rachael Figueiredo was charged with simple assault and harassment on Friday, according to NJ.com. The mailman described Figueiredo to police, and they were able to locate her.
It turned out that the police were familiar with the woman. Reilly noted that Figueiredo had been arrested in 2011 on charges of assaulting an EMS worker. NJ.com reported that on the day after this alleged attack in November, Figueiredo was arrested and charged with entering the apartments of two other residents, yelling at one woman in her bedroom, and hitting a man in his apartment, according to Reilly.
