No plans to allow trucks on Garden State Parkway north of Exit 105

N.J. transportation commissioner says roadway issues would prevent any change

There is no plan to change a longstanding policy that bans trucks from the Garden State Parkway north of Interchange 105 in Tinton Falls, Monmouth County, state Transportation Commissioner James Simpson said Monday.

Simpson's statement follows a press report that changes are being contemplated.

"There is no plan to change the current policy that prohibits trucks on the Parkway north of Interchange 105 in Monmouth County," Simpson said. "Our professional staff has indicated that significant engineering issues prevent such a change from even preliminary consideration."

The Parkway extends 172 miles from Montvale, Bergen County at the New York state border to Cape May in Cape May County. The toll road handles about 390 million toll transactions annually.
