Local residents and acquaintances of Sarah Townsend are keeping the search alive for the missing teen after police had called off their search on Tuesday.

Around forty people met at Green Acres Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday and searched the area for hours hoping to find information.

The Press of Atlantic City reported that police, fire and emergency officials from nearby communities with dogs searched in and around Green Acres with until midafternoon Tuesday, when police determined no information could be found. Marine units will be searching Assicunk Creek, a waterway in the area when tides allow.

Hamilton teenager Darie Puica, 19, organized the citizens’ search through Facebook to keep interest in the search alive. Another group has been put together to continue to look for clues.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Burlington Township Police Director Walter Corter said early in the case police had been “given good reason that Townsend was considering harming herself.” He did not provide further information.

According to philly.com, local authorities did not call Sarah Townsend a suicide risk.

Today, Townsend’s family and friends were back to the park grounds – and online – spreading the call for any help.

Townsend’s mother said "We want you to know we love you. You're not in trouble, just please come home, Sarah."

Her parents’ actions have led to speculation that there may have been an argument before she disappeared, according to myfoxphilly.com.
