Sen. Ronald Rice (D-Essex) has been selected by his colleagues to remain chairman of the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus until January of 1012.
"I am very proud of the initiatives we have undertaken, and of the progress we have made as a caucus,” Rice said. “During this new legislative session, I look forward to working with my colleagues in both houses as we continue to take up the cause of advancing opportunities for the state’s minority and urban populations.”
The legislators who have held the caucus' four other leadership posts will continue in those positions. They are Assemblyman Jerry Green (D-Union) as 1st vice-chairman, Sen. Shirley Shirley K. Turner (D-Mercer) as 2nd vice-chairwoman, Assemblywoman Elease Evans (D-Passaic) as secretary, and Assemblyman Herbert Conaway (D-Burlington) as treasurer.
The caucus' new members are Assemblymen Charles Mainor (D-Hudson) and Gilbert “Whip” Wilson (D-Camden).-- TOM HESTER SR., NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM.COM
