Residents of Hoboken were in the final stages of replacing items lost from Hurricane Sandy, when A water main break brought them right back to square one.
According to newyork.cbslocal.com much of Hoboken was without water after a contractor struck a 30-inch water main Thursday morning.
The water main break caused flooding in nearby homes, offices, and along the street of the city.
Residents in the area witnessed nearly four feet of water at one point, which took a toll on the roads.
Well, the water is back on....but there's always something interesting happening in Hoboken to talk about. Like the Super Duper Sinkhole.
By the time crews arrived, a sinkhole had opened up and swallowed a car, reported newyork.cbslocal.com.
Neighbors of the car owner said the owner lost his car in superstorm Sandy and had finally replaced it, only to have it destroyed again.
The main break has caused a shortage of water in the city, because it was apparently the second one of the day. The first water main break, only a few blocks away from the second one, affected people who were in the midst of replacing items lost in Sandy.
Resident Sean MaGee said “We cleared it all out right after Sandy so we lost everything again.”
Building owner Eugene Notaro did not think another incident would occur that would affect his basement.
“Here we go again, at the minimum everything has to be changed, all the electronics and things. My God I can’t believe it,” said Notaro, who had just replaced the electrical system in his basement Tuesday.
This two main water breaks have caused problems not only to people rebuilding from Sandy, but also to everyone in Hoboken.
