Tom was a member of The Star-Ledger Statehouse Bureau for 18 years. He has been a news reporter in New Jersey for over forty years and has written for six different newspapers. The last thirty-one years were spent covering state government, including six elected governors, and politics, mainly in the state capital. Hester was part of the reporting team that received the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for coverage of the resignation Gov. James McGreevey.
