Carolyn: The Augustine committee was not appointed by Congress. It was appointed by The President, who more than once made campaign promises to shelve the US manned space program. What was interesitng was the unified criticism from both Democrats and Republicans against most of the assumptions and proposals contained in this report. One can only hope that the rest of Congress has a like mind.
