Situations such as this one, where greedy individuals take advantage of their fellow taxpayers for short-term personal gain, are the reason that Social Security's programs are so vehemently opposed by many hard-working citizens. In this time of debate about reform of the so-called "entitlement" programs, however, it is important to remember that those who rightfully collect SSI are people who are basically impoverished and so completely and permanently disabled that they can achieve absolutely zero income through substantial gainful activity. Perhaps Social Security reform needs to begin with fixing some of the bureaucratic, system-wide inefficiencies that allow sheisters like this Mr. Wagar to get approved for benefits in the first place.
