Thanks for this very sensible commentary and bringing this story to light. I grew up in Staten Island, and am horrified to see this teacher villifed in my hometown by the New York City Board of Education. We need more teachers like Faith Kramer. The very parents and adults who shame her for clarifying slang also perpetuate the use of slang by fostering non communication about sex. You're right, Susie, we all need to grow up!
