Violet is a versatile writer, skilled at digging out the essence of a story and expressing it clearly and concisely, whether it's an article on the fate of our recycled trash, a blog about drinking pine needle tea, or a memoir of traveling through India.
She has written on a wide range of topics for newspapers, magazines, and websites, including InterPress Service, The Record of Bergen County, NJ, Woodstock Times, and many others. Her award-winning nature photographs have appeared in several publications.
Areas of special interest include:
- environmental issues, especially alternative energy and climate change;
- nature, including plant and tree identification, herbal healing, wild edibles, animal tracking and primitive skills;
- real estate.
Violet is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists. She was awarded a fellowship by the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources in 2009.
