At a routine doctor’s appointment on Thursday, reality TV star and mother of 19 children Michelle Duggar learned that she had suffered a miscarriage. The Arkansas woman stars on TLC series "19 Kids and Counting."
Parade reported that their doctor could not find a heartbeat and told the Duggars she had miscarried in her second trimester. In November, the Duggars announced they were expecting their 20th child in April on the Today show.
According to Us Magazine, the Duggar list of children consists of Joshua, who is 23, twins Jana and John-David, 21; Jill, 20; Jessa, 19; Jinger, 17; Joseph, 16; Josiah, 15; Joy-Anna, 14; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 12; Jason, 11; James, 10; Justin, 8; Jackson, 7; Johanna, 6; Jennifer, 4; and Jordyn, 3, and Josie, who is nearly 2.
The New York Daily News reported that young Josie was born prematurely at only 25 weeks, and weighed only 22 ounces at birth. She was born through an emergency C-section and spent extra time in the hospital.
Michelle Duggar had earlier lost a baby when she was pregnant for the second time and said she would give up oral birth control after the miscarriage. After that loss, Duggar, 45, said the couple then decided to leave the number of children they have "up to God."
According to the Chicago Tribune, husband Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle is resting comfortably at home and the family has asked for privacy.
