I had a very successful meet and greet with Raquel Welch Friday at Bookends bookstore in Ridgewood.
Obviously the first thing I said to her is ''you still look hot'' and she blushed a bit and smiled. I then asked her how she stays looking so good. She said, "It's not easy.''
In her book "Raquel: Beyond the Cleavage," she says she stays away from sugar, salt and caffeine.
Raquel, who is 69 years old, once claimed she spent up to 10 hours a day keeping herself in shape through a combination of yoga sessions, weight training, healthy eating and her make-up regime.
"I've always been a health fanatic,' she said. 'I found out a long time ago that if I indulged by stuffing my face with great food, lying about reading books and watching TV or talking on the phone, I was not a happy camper."Turning 60 was not a happy time. I didn't think 'I'm falling apart', but I did re-examine my priorities. I'm far more ready to go with the flow now because I am more accepting of myself."
I told her I'm going to call her if I ever need a blood transfusion. She's laughing in the photo because I just informed her that she is Simon Cowell's secret crush.
She replied, ''I didn't know that, how did you hear that? I love Simon Cowell!"
I told her that I saw it on "Extra."
Then I asked her where Simon would rank on her crush list and she laughed and said, ''I love him but I don't know if I'd put him on my crush list!''
