She’s back. And it’s her moment, whether you like it or not.
14-year-old singer Rebecca Black will release her follow-up single to "Friday," entitled "My Moment," on her official YouTube channel Monday at 8 p.m. EST.
According to US Magazine, Black’s viral hit "Friday" has been viewed 167 million times on YouTube.
MTV reports the video for “My Moment” includes footage of Black attending red-carpet events and receiving an award at her junior high school. A statement says it tells the fairy tale story of Black’s sudden rise to fame.
Another singer who was discovered in a similar fashion to Black, on the internet, but through MySpace, is Colbie Caillat, who isn’t too thrilled about Black’s success. She told US Magazine, “That is what is amazing about the Internet. Because of it, I have a career, I scored a record deal, and I had fans from before I even knew I was an artist. Friday is so ridiculous and foolish that you have to laugh. It is not a good song but it is really funny.”
Black was most recently seen in a co-starring role in Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” music video. And if you still need more Rebecca, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Black is foregoing the traditional music labels and will self-release a five song EP in August.“My Moment” was written by Brandon "Blue" Hamilton, who has written a track for Justin Bieber, named by Black as her “dream duet."
