Teen actor Corey Haim, 38, was found dead in his San Fernando Valley, Calif. home last night of an accidental drug overdose.
Reports in say Haim, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California and pronounced dead sometime after 2 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of his death.
Born Corey Ian Haim in Toronto to an Israeli mother, Haim's movie career began in 1984 when he starred alongside silver screen heavyweights Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. in "First Born."
His first major billeting role came in 1986 with "Lucas" alongside Charlie Sheen and Winona Ryder, but he was best known for his role in "The Lost Boys" starring Keifer Sutherland and Jason Patric.
Haim struggled with addiction problems and attempted a career comeback with his A&E network reality show, "The Two Corey's" alongside friend and former co-star Corey Feldman in 2007. The show was cancelled in its second season, but Haim was nominated for a Viewer's Choice Award for the show.
The A&E network issued this statement in regards to Haim's untimely passing: "We are saddened by the tragic loss of Corey Haim who we had the pleasure to work with on the series 'The Two Corey's.' Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time."
Haim had spent the last ten years of his life in and out of drug rehabilitation facilities as he struggled to overcome his bankruptcy issues. Throughout his personal life, the young actor had been linked to Victoria Beckham, Alyssa Milano, Nicole Eggert and Holly Fields.
