Move over Katniss. There’a new sheriff in your post-apocalytpic world.
This weekend “Think Like a Man” posted surprising box-office success with a $33 million opening, which officially dethroned “The Hunger Games” from its six-week number one spot, reported MTV.com
“Think Like a Man” is a romantic comedy in which four women are tired of dealing with their men. That’s until they encounter Steve Harvey’s book and his relationship advice. The techniques seem to work until the men discover the book and try to turn the tables on the women.
MTV reports that the roughly 2-hour film required a modest $13 million to make and experts had anticipated $10 million less on opening weekend.
“The Lucky One” came in second place this weekend based on the Nicholas Sparks bestseller and starring Zac Efron which opened with $22.8 millon.
That put Hunger Games in third place $14.5 million, making its total grossing $356.9 million. This makes it #19 in the all-time list, right between “Jurrasaic Park” and “Transformers.”
And in case you are wondering, “The Hunger Grames” grossed $155 million in its opening weekend and required $80 million to make.
Part of that cost was Jennifer Lawrence’s hair color. Daily Mail reported that Lawrence, who stars as the heroine Katniss Everdeen, refused to have stylists experiment on her naturally blonde locks. Filmmakers rented five lace wigs, at a cost of $6,000 each, to find the right color.
