A year before the NFL and Super Bowl XLVIII take center stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford in 2014, another super event is scheduled to take place. Consider it a warm-up act of sorts.
WWE announced this week that WrestleMania 29 is coming to New Jersey in 2013, according to reports.
Gov. Chris Christie held a press conference Thursday, along with the New York Giants and Jets, co-owners of the stadium, WWE promoter Vince McMahon and wrestlers Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena, Triple H, and Sheamus in attendance.
The event, which will take place in Miami this year, generally fills stadiums. Last year's event in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta drew a crowd of 71,617 and generated millions in revenue for the region, the report said.
WrestleMania Week includes daily activities leading up to the big show, such as WrestleMania Axxess and WWE Hall of Fame Inductions.
The April 7 New Jersey event will be only the fourth outdoor show in WrestleMania history, and the first held in a northern climate.
