The combination of high pressure shifting towards northern New England and a developing low pressure system over the Ohio Valley will produce an easterly wind throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan area. Clouds will increase from southeast to northwest through the day as moisture from the Atlantic is transported into the region. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 70's along the coast and mid to upper 70's elsewhere.
The low pressure system will lift north tonight into the St. Lawrence River Valley and drag an occluded front through the northern Mid Atlantic. Widespread moderate to heavy rain with elevated thunderstorms can be expected late tonight through early tomorrow morning with the brunt of the rainfall between 10 p.m. tonight through 4 a.m. tomorrow. Winds will back from the southeast to the north at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50's to lower 60's for lows.
The low pressure system will move towards northern New England tomorrow with showers lingering through the morning followed by clearing skies in the afternoon and northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 70's throughout the region.
Weak high pressure will be in control Sunday through Tuesday with scattered cloud cover. A few weak disturbances may produce an isolated shower from time to time. Temperatures will rebound to near normal with lows in the upper 50's to lower 60's and highs in the mid to upper 70's.
An area of low pressure developing in the Southeast will produce scattered showers over the region on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will remain near normal with lows in the upper 50's to lower 60's and highs in the mid to upper 70's.
