The kick off to summer is here and the weather is going to corporate with hazy, hot, and humid conditions for this weekend.
Once again, fog and low clouds have plaque the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas as the atmosphere remains moisture saturated. Weak disturbances have produced isolated showers along the coast as well. The fog and low clouds will slowly lift to produce a mix of sun and clouds. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms will be a threat through this afternoon.
These thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe and produce very heavy downpours, frequent lightning, small hail, and wind gusts over 50 mph. Temperatures will vary depend on the amount of sunshine a location receives and the proximity from the coast. Along the coast, most locations will range from the mid to upper 70's, while just away from the coast temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs.
A cold front will move through tonight with additional isolated showers and thunderstorms. These isolated showers and thunderstorms are capable of heavy downpours but are not expected to be severe. The cold front will temporarily transport drier air into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas by tomorrow morning leading to fog being less likely. Temperatures will rebound nicely tomorrow afternoon into the lower to mid 80's along the coast and mid 80's to lower 90's elsewhere. With winds from the southwest, humidity will return making for a rather hot and humid, perhaps even hazy afternoon. An isolated showers or thunderstorm will be possible over the northern tier.
Similar conditions can be expected on Sunday and Monday with mostly dry conditions expected. However a stray isolated shower or thunderstorm will remain a threat due to a few rogue disturbances. Fog will be a threat in the early morning hours as the moisture in the atmosphere builds. Temperatures will remain above normal with a wide range of temperatures expected. Along the immediate coast due to the influence of the Atlantic, temperatures will range from the mid 70's to lower 80's while away from the coast mid 80's to lower 90's can be expected.
A cold front will move through on Tuesday and Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms. These thunderstorms will have the potential to reach severe levels. Temperatures will remain above normal but cooler with lows in the mid to upper 60's and highs in the upper 70's to mid 80's.
High pressure will take hold by Thursday with scattered cloud cover and near normal temperatures. Temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's for lows and mid to upper 70's for highs.
