More teens charged in murder of Divyendu Sinha in Old Bridge

oldbridgenj062910_optMiddlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Acting Chief Robert Bonfante of the Old Bridge Police Department announced that two additional males were arrested Thursday on murder and murder conspiracy charges in the death of Dr. Divyendu Sinha, a 49-year-old township resident. Accordingly, four 17-year-old males and one 16-year-old male have now been charged with Dr. Sinha's murder.

In addition, charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an aggravated assault were also filed Thursday against the five juveniles after it was determined they were involved in a separate, unrelated altercation before they attacked and beat Dr. Sinha on June 25, 2010.

Specifically, the on-going investigation by Detective Greg Morris of the Old Bridge Police Department and Investigator Paul Miller of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has revealed that these same five juveniles engaged in a motor vehicle chase with another motorist less than five minutes before they attacked Dr. Sinha. In that incident, the motorist, a Caucasian male, was able to flee from the attack, which occurred on Prests Mill Road in Old Bridge.

Before the motorist escaped, the juveniles threw objects at the motorist's car, which was damaged. As a result, all five juveniles are also charged with criminal mischief.

All five remain in custody. The two juveniles arrested Thursday, a 17 year old and a 16 year old, are scheduled to appear Friday morning for a preliminary hearing in Family Court before Superior Court Judge Roger W. Daley in New Brunswick.

Prosecutor Kaplan stressed that while the attack of Dr. Sinha appears to be random and unprovoked, particularly in light of the unrelated attack on the Caucasian motorist only a few minutes earlier, a decision will be made on whether to file bias charges once the investigation is completed.

‘'The initial focus of the probe has been to determine who was responsible for the murder of Dr. Sinha,'' Prosecutor Kaplan said.

‘'Now that five individuals have been arrested and charged, we will be making every effort to assess whether racial bias played a role in the attack and, if so, we will bring appropriate charges,'' Prosecutor Kaplan said.

Once the investigation is complete, Prosecutor Kaplan will also consider whether to seek court permission to have the five juveniles tried as adults in Superior Court.

Under the law, the prosecutor's office has 30 days to file the motion in Family Court and must show probable cause. Ultimately, the decision rests with a Superior Court judge.

Police began the investigation after receiving a call at 11:42 p.m. on June 25, 2010, and arrived to find Dr. Sinha had been beaten.

He was walking with his wife and two sons on Fela Drive in Old Bridge when the juveniles got out of a car and attacked Dr. Sinha and his two sons. No weapons were used in the assault. The two sons sustained minor injuries. Additional charges will be filed in that assault. The wife was not harmed.

Dr. Sinha was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died on June 28, 2010. An autopsy showed he died from a head injury.

The juveniles' names are, by law, being withheld because of their ages.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Morris of the Old Bridge Police Department at (732) 721-5600, or Investigator Miller of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-4466.

The accused should be given life in prison. It shouldn't matter if it was racially biased or not. Hate is hate no matter what. This disgusts me. Have fun in prison boys you just ruined someone's family as well as your own.

My sincere condolences go out to the victims family.

Hon. Paula Dow:

The brutal murder of Dr Diveyndu Sinha out side his own home by few teenagers of his own town has shaken the Indian Community all over America. The sense of security among the community members has vanished over night. Then the reports of racial bias towards the Indian community members as narrated during the meeting with Mayor Philips on 6-29-10 has further compounded the fear factor.

We request your honor that all investigations related to the brutal murder of Dr Sinha must be handled by your office. There should be investigations into the conduct of parents of the teenagers for bad parenting, school teachers & principle for not reporting abnormal behavior of these teenagers involved in the murder and above all 104 Police Officers of Old Bridge Twp must be interrogated separately to find out what went wrong in ensuring law & order including neighborhood patrolling.

An impartial investigations by Your Honor’s office will send the right message on the street that there is accountability for crimes committed against minorities and it is safe for the minorities to raise their families in New Jersey.

Sincerely,
Dave Makkar

BRUCE KAPLAN IS A KNOWN INDIAN HATER & SOFT ON BAD COPS

Petrolman Michael Dotro with a gun in hand trashed Ajay Patel & Bimal Joshi with his boots in front of so called community leaders. Later on on the advie of Kiran Desai both paid a fine for putting Indian flags withoiut permit rather than demanding prosecution & suspansion of Dotro for Police Brutality under Racial Bias.

A liquor store clerk Rajnikant Parikh was brutally beaten under Racial Bias by same Patrolman Michael Dotro in front of 30-40 Indians. Bruce Kaplan refused to take the testimony of the witnesses by saying they are not credible witnesse because every body is saying the same thing. Later on Parikh was deported in violation of US laws & human rights. State & ICE spent more than $100,000.00 & kept Parikh in Jail for over 8 months and still denied him Fair & Open Trail just to save a knucle head cop Dotro whom Paikh accused of Police Brutality under Racial Bias.

Petrolman Michael Schwartz led Police Union, members, supporters & family members called, “Indians are cockroaches, animals, illiterates and illegal go home.” These are the worst ever called Racial Slurs for any community in over 200 years history of America. Police Dept, Mayor & Twp of Edison has yet to give verbal or written apology because community leaders like Kiran Desai, Yashpal Soi, Nirav Mehta, Upendra Chivukula, Dr Sudhanshu Prasad, Ravi Bhalla, Seema Singh, Devendra Singh (Hindi USA) etc feels these Slurs are Compliments for the community!

Officer Ioannis Mpletsakis fled an accident completely naked after hitting in the rear of a Truck. Obliging NJ Superior Court Judge Marvin Gelade under cooperation with County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan; first overturned the Municipal conviction of hindering apprehension and later reinstated him in the Police force. Even the obliging Municipal Court never prosecuted Mplestsakis for reckless assault with an auto and leaving the scene of accident. A civilian would have got minimum 1 year imprisonment but not a Cop that too under the watchful eye of Bruce Kaplan.

An officer from Edison admitting waving his gun during an off-duty argument was not suspanded.

An officer paraded naked in front of a hotel room window during a convention was not dismissed from the Force.

One time there was an Editorial in Star Ledger that Edison Police Department is an Animal House (under the expert supervision of Bruce Kaplan!)

LET THERE BE IMPARTIAL STATE INVESTIGATION.
