There has been an unfortunate end to a week-long search that took place in Burlington Township.
Police Director Walt Corter told Action News that a body pulled from Sherman's Pond in the Green Acres Park in Burlington Township is believed to be that of missing Burlington Township teen Sarah Townsend.
The body was found in the pond near the field where Sarah Townsend's empty car had been abandoned on Monday.
The discovery came hours after four search teams, including dogs, returned for another intensive search of the 28-acre section of Green Acres. Crews felt they could undergo a more thorough search since there were less people in the park today than earlier this week.
Corter said the family has been notified of the finding.
Investigators have said there had been no evidence of foul play in Townsend’s disappearance, but due to a note in the car they had been concerned she may have intended to harm herself.
