Union County College's athletic director turned himself in to police and was charged with invasion of privacy following a report that he videotaped a female guest in a shower at his home.
James McCue, 54, of Hillside, was also charged with filing a false police report.
On July 11, a woman called police reporting that while she was taking a shower in the outdoor shower stall of McCue's Roberts Avenue home, she saw a video camera held by a man's hand coming out of a crawl-space vent that led to the inside of the home, Detective Sgt. James Smith told APP.com.
McCue and the woman are close family friends, the report said.
However, McCue told police when they responded to his home that someone broke into his home and did the videotaping.
But police conducted a search of that home, McCue's Revere Road home in Hillside and his office at the college, and found enough evidence to issue a warrant for McCue's arrest.Union County College spokeswoman Ellen Dotto said the school was informed of the charges, and she and college board members were holding a meeting regarding McCue's employment status.
She added that McCue has been the athletic director at the college for almost 10
years.
McCue posted bail and was released on the condition that he not have any contact with the victim. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
