Civil suit too ?

I personally don't know the victim or his family and this may be far fetched, but I want to pose the following question, at least to vent my sadness and anger over this incident which I am unable to overcome... Apart from the criminial proceedings against the worms (who should arguably be tried as adults) leading to the maximum penalty that the law allows, could there be room for a civil action against the OB school district on behalf of the Sinha family, if the deplorable situation at OBHS (which would have definitely contributed to something like this happening) as described in the many of the posts elsewhere can be proven in court ?

Although I agree with a civil suit against the families of those accused (and who will later be found guilty), I see little reason to sue the school district. Unfortunately our society has pushed off the responsibility of raising children to the schools, blaming the school district for any wrongdoing. Where is parental responsibility? Although it has been rumored that the accused are affluent, I'm sure that both parents are working full time....who is watching the kids? Even when your children are teenagers, they still need to be monitored closely, perhaps even more closely then when they were little. As someone who has worked in OBPS, it is very easy to spot children who come from affluent surroundings....they are often the worst behaved and don't necessarily excel in school. Although I realize that many parents must rely on dual incomes to make ends meet, I feel many parents who go on expensive vacations each year, buy their kids the newest gadgets/clothes, and are constantly flaunting their wealth need to reevaluate their motives for having both parents working long hours and realize the importance of parenting their own children rather that leaving that task up the school systems.
