Easy to judge those people. Announcements were very much the same as when they were asked to leave in lieu of being told to leave. Media also showed many people staying before the storm hit. You'd likely see the same situations where hurricanes are not as common.
And to the person who said, "this is not a hurricane" - that's exactly the attitude that caused people to stay, so it puts you right with all the "idiots". Also proves tropical storms in highly dense urban areas can be completely devastating. Had it been a category 5, imagine how bad..
