take a look around

Obesity is the biggest health problem in this country, fomented by fast food joints touting 99-cent big macs and supersizing for only 20 cents more. McDonald's CEO recently defended their choices by claiming they put fruit in their happy meals. he neglected to include the fact that the fruit comes with caramel sauce. perhaps if parents showed some of this so-called 'personal responsibility', diabetes and obesity would be less of a problem, and we wouldn't need "socialized" healthcare. by the way, healthcare in this country is the highest percentage of GDP in the world. this country's shown time and time again that bigger is better - in food, and in cars. san francisco's not asking us to get off our fat asses, it's asking corporations to be as responsible as we want our citizens to be.

So why don't you advocate the government shutting down all fast-food restaurants? Why don't you advocate the government's forcing all citizens to have gastric bypass surgery? Such policies might curb the obesity problem.

Who is this "we" in your comment that "it's asking corporations to be as responsible as we want our citizens to be." Why do you and this mysterious and all-powerful "we" get to decide what people can and can't eat and what businesses can and can't sell? Who is this "we" to decide what it means to be "responsible"? If you were truly responsible, you would stop relinquishing all your own responsibility to the nanny state.

Do you eat only government-approved foods? Are all your actions perfect according the the standards of government and the mass media? What if the government decided, under the power of the all-knowing "we" you speak of, to ban an activity you enjoy -- for your own good, of course? Would you still unquestionably accept the wisdom of this omnipotent "we"?

If you detest McDonald's so much, then you don't have to eat there. Let other people eat wherever they want. Unfortunately, we don't have the same choice with government. We must adhere to all of government's oppressive rules and regulations lest we be fined, imprisoned, or shot, yet you target the comparatively powerless McDonald's as the source of all evil.

You, sir or madam, are a totalitarian. You are the reason the government grows more and more out of control, taxing and regulating the economy into oblivion and attacking our basic rights daily.
