Methadone and suboxone have always been primarily intended for opiate addiction maintenance, and you're stupid for thinking that's a bad think. Would you rather have these addicts shooting dirty heroin everyday, or working with trained doctors and FDA approved medication to reduce their dependence? We NEED opiod maintenance, ignoring the problem won't make it go away.

Also, for what it's worth, hydrocodone is dozens of times weaker than methadone or suboxone.

methadone isn't used to supplement getting high. it's used as a maintenance program for those who will go into violent withdrawal if they stop taking opioids but still want to stop. only those with a low tolerance would get any sort of high from a typical methadone dose. whether or not people hoard the medication and abuse it has nothing to do with it's overall efficacy and should not be judged on that principle.
