East Coast Economic Jolt put on Hold; Longshoremen Strike Averted for 30 Days

The International Longshoremen Association and the U.S. Martime Alliance have temporarily averted an East Coast strike some say would further paralyze the economy.

The union and the major representative of the shipping lines have agreed to a 30-day extension in efforts to come to a contract agreement. This extension will end on January 28.
