No eBay sale for woman selling soul to highest bidder

The latest unusual ad posted on eBay? One soul for sale, slightly used.

That is the extent of an ad posted by a woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who has had a hard time recovering from a car accident in 2007.

KOB.com reports that the woman only known as Lori N. was a passenger in a car hit by a drunk driver at the time. She suffered a collapsed lung, broken hip, broken pelvis, ribs, leg, and collarbone, along with a stroke, and the loss of one of her breasts.

Lori N. was a freelance writer, but says she now has difficulty putting pen to paper. She said, according to Mail Online, 'It's a cry for help. I'm at the point now, I'm tired. I don't feel good. I'm near the end of my rope. I really am.'

She wrote on her eBay listing, according to examiner.com, "What I’m going to deliver is the opportunity for someone to save my soul. They can save it through prayer, they can save it through conversion. And I’m also going to give them a certificate detailing the white and black marks on my soul."

The woman realizes her listing may offend some people's religious beliefs, according to nbc-2.com, but Lori N. says she doesn’t mean to offend anyone.

Lori hoped to get $2,000 for her soul, but had no bidders in the early going. The link to the site listing says the item is no longer available, so eBay appears to have taken it down. EBay forbids users from selling body parts, but a soul wasn’t necessarily covered in their policy.

Children can be conned out of inheritance after multiple marriages

BY CAROL ABAYA NEWJERSEYNEWSROOM.COM THE SANDWICH GENERATION Multiple marriages and blended families can mean children get cheated out of money and assets their parent(s) earned and had before the second or third marriage. At the 2012 senior citizens’ law day conference, Lawrence A. Friedman, Bridgewater elder law attorney, said elders need to protect their children of prior marriages from being disinherited. "Even if your spouse’s current will provides for your children, your spouse may change it after you pass away,” he said. In addition to protecting one's child, an appropriate will can minimize N.J. estate taxes, which kick in if assets are over $675,000. At the conference, Cathyanne Pisciotta from North Brunswick discussed guardianship which could be necessary if various legal documents are not signed. Pisciotta said that if a person does not have a durable power of attorney (for financial affairs) and a living will (for medical decisions), anyone else can seek guardianship of that person. An expensive court proceeding is mandatory. And she said, “If one person seeks guardianship, someone else can challenge the appointment. Another relative may seek to be appointed guardian because he/she wants the money and power.”
