Remember that old saying about making lemons out of lemonade? President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign is trying to do their version of that by raising funds through the controversy about Obama’s birth certificate.
MSNBC reports that by donating $25 to the Obama campaign, donors can get a limited edition tee shirt that proclaims “Made in America” on the front beneath a picture of President Obama. The back of the shirt shows a picture of his long-form birth certificate.
Also, politico.com reports that Deputy Campaign Manager Julianna Smoot of the re-election campaign sent Obama supporters an e-mail regarding fundraising merchandising. It referred to a new book titled “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” about the long-running debate of Obama’s birthplace.
Smoot said they can’t make the talk go away, so she suggested an alternative- an Obama birth certificate mug, available here.
MSNBC reported on April 27 that the White House released Obama's long-form birth certificate which showed he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was signed by his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, the doctor, and registrar. Real estate mogul and short-lived Presidential aspirant Donald Trump had been stirring up the issue of Obama's birthplace.
According to newsmax.com, the Democratic Governors Association sent a fundraising letter asking for contributions which would help stop bills requiring birth certificates for presidential candidates being considered in some Republican leaning states.

On June 6, 1951, in Washington DC, President Harry S. Truman signed the 1951 British Treaty, authorizing Britain consular jurisdiction over British citizens, in the USA, where consular officers could register births to British citizens, in the district of jurisdiction, and to issue passports to those children.
Barack Obama Sr, was a foreign born student, carrying a British passport, on a US non-immigrant student visa (8USC1101(a)(15)(F)(i)), under British consular jurisdiction, per 1951 British Treaty.
Since Barack H Obama II, was born in the Hawaii, then per (circa 1961 law) 8USC1401(a)(1), he would have been native born a US citizen; and under consular jurisdiction of the 1951 British Treaty and the under jurisdiction of British Nationality Act of 1948, Part II(5)(1)(a) he was born a British Citizen, thus a dual-citizen UK/US, and not a natural born citizen, and not constitutionally eligible for the 2008 or 2012 Presidential elections.
It seems something emblazoned with the logo "Made in the USA" on it's forward facing side would be a slap in the face for American workers if in fact it was manufactured in China or the Philippines or Korea, et al.
Yes, I realize the logo is in reference to the President being born on USA soil, but still, the insensitivity for such an affront at a time when many are unemployed would be just so much fodder for the opposition party and Fox news to use to once again distract folks from the real issues..
Wouldn't you agree?
I support the President and think this is actually a cute little dig and wouldn't mind purchasing the mug, but I absolutely will not if, in fact, it is not an American made product.
Screw the corporations who show no loyalty to the homeland. Let's keep Americans working in American jobs!
