Apple is about to make the first changes to its MacBook Pro design in four years.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is being described as an ultra-thin version of the current model. The power button will be on the keyboard itself, replacing the disc eject.

Also, the new MacBook Pro will have the new retina display, and will feature a USB 3 port for greatly increased speed.

Bloomberg reports that the new laptops will run on new Intel’s latest generation Core processors, code-named Ivy Bridge, and have a thinner body design from the current 0.95-inch thickness. The Verge says the MacBook Pro will become a 15-inch model by leaving out the optical disc drive.

The new laptops will also have flash memory to cut down time of startup and extend the battery life.

Some reports are saying the new MacBook Pros will be unveiled at Apple’s World Wide Developers’ Conference beginning June 11. According to Stark Insider, Apple is expected to launch its new operating system Mountain Lion, an OS X upgrade.

The emphasis on the MacBook Pros for the WWDC indicates that Apple will release its next iPhone later in the year. Analysts are predicting the company will release its next smartphone in October.

The MacBook may be decreasing in thickness to improve sales. The MacBook Pros shipped 4 million in the last quarter for Apple compared to 35 million for the iPhone.
