CVS stands for a Child Vitals Scare?

Well – after a mix-up consisting of the breast cancer fighting drug Tamoxifen instead chewable fluoride tablets, parents might just coin a new term for the second-largest chain of drugstores in the U.S. after Walgreen.

Between Dec. 20 and Feb. 20 at the CVS in Chatham, “about 50” children are likely to have received the wrong medication says CVS, according to the Associated Press.

While there have been no reports of relatable injuries, Mike DeAngelis, CVS’s director of public relations said in a statement, "The health and safety of our customers is our highest priority and we are deeply sorry for the mistake that occurred."

Earlier last week, DeAngelis told the press important steps, including contacting the families whose children received a fluoride prescription in the previous 60 days, have been taken to eradicate the unforeseeable error.

He said that "most of the families we have spoken to did not indicate that their children received any incorrect pills."

Even so, the company will continue the search.

"We are actively investigating this matter to determine how the mistake occurred in order to take corrective actions to prevent this from happening again," DeAngelis added.

According to the Press, the mix-up won’t have a negative impact on the children's health.

Pharmacist
this is likely to happen at any retail pharmacy, thanks to greedy corporations, not enough help allowed in the pharmacy, and overworked employees. Imagine one pharmacist entering and reviewing hundreds of presciptions, giving immunizations, taking blood pressures, counseling, answering phones, having a drive through, etc... And imagine doing all of this without having a chance to eat or pee! Ugh!!! It's sickening! Greedy, greedy corporate!! This needs to change!

CVS is a disaster waiting to happen. All they think about is making money and they do put patient's lives in direct danger. They have been cutting pharmacists and technicians to a point where they can no longer provide the accurancy that is needed to protect the patients. Prescriptions must be filled in 15 minutes or less when a customer is waiting. That causes undue stress on all personnel involved in the dispensing process. This is not a realistic working environment. All customer's beware, this will not be the first nor the last of incidents that you hear...
