Pop superstar Lady Gaga, who did some of her early recording in Passaic, owes an assistant thousands of dollars in unpaid overtime, according to a lawsuit she received last week.
Jennifer O’Neill, 41, worked for Gaga, 25, for 13 months and was with her on the Monster Ball tour last year. She claims she was supposed to be paid $75,000 a year, and court documents claim that she was not paid for 7,168 hours of overtime totaling $380,000, according to ABC News.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the lawsuit was filed against Gaga’s Mermaid Touring company, not Gaga herself, for the unpaid overtime. Gaga has not yet commented on the action, but her spokeswoman called the suit “completely without merit.”
The New York Post reported that court documents said O’Neill was required to make sure the singer receives a towel quickly following a shower and served as a personal alarm clock to keep Lady Gaga on schedule. The court papers said that Gaga demanded service everywhere, and O’Neill was expected to be available for Gaga at her earliest waking hour or in the middle of the night.
Mail Online reported that another former assistant of Lady Gaga, Angela Ciemny, claimed she was required to sleep with Gaga on most nights because the singer didn’t want to be alone, according to the book "Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga."
