Can Lindsay Lohan pull it off?

That's the question surrounding the recent announcement that the troubled Lohan will portray legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Original Movie "Liz & Dick," based on the film icon's romance with actor Richard Burton, according to reports.

Apparently, Lifetime execs are confident in Lohan's ability to handle the role.

"She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon," said Lifetime Networks executive vice president of programming Rob Sharenow.

The biopic is set to begin filming this June in Los Angeles.

As of yet, Lohan's leading man to play Burton has not been decided.

Taylor and Burton met on the set of the epic film "Cleopatra," fell in love and left their respective spouses to be married. They divorced, only to be remarried years later...and then divorced again.
