Camden police ‘forced’ to kill pit bull

Camden residents say officers responding to a fight between teenagers Friday night opened fire in their Rosedale neighborhood, leaving bullet holes in vehicles and a house and killing a beloved family pet.

The 9 p.m. incident has drawn the ire of residents who say the officers owe them an apology for recklessly shooting on a street crowded with children, the Courier Post reported.

According to eyewitness statements, police, who Mayor Dana Redd said were trying to disperse a large crowd, fired at least 33 shots. Robert Corrales, a spokesman for Redd said the pit bull approached the officer in an aggressive manner and the officer was forced to shoot him.

However, Sherronda Aycox, the owner of the dead 8-month-old blue pit bull, said her dog, Capone was simply walking down the street towards children he saw during his daily walks when the officer drew his weapon and fired.

Aycox told the paper that another officer told the cop not to shoot Capone, but the officer fired anyway. Other witnesses say Capone, who was on a leash, got loose and ran into the area where officers were present. That's when they say two or three officers fired at least 33 shots at the pit bull puppy, NBC Philadelphia reported.

A Saturday morning police investigation found at least two bullets that pierced the side of Delia Rodriguez' home, ricocheting off the ceiling and shattering her front window. The grandmother of six lives across the street and four houses away from where the officers were shooting.

An attempt to reach the public information officer for the Camden Police Department was unreturned.

Camden officers killed a puppy wow , when they see the drug dealers at the corners and they turn the head somewhere else. There are many criminals out, but is more easy to kill a puppy dog that clean the city for the residents so they can live free of fears, who knows, next time could be a cat, or some innocent people.

If any citizen responded to any threat the way these thugs did, we would be locked up for reckless endangerment, firearms charges, and whatever else they wanted to make up in order to ensure a conviction. Until these trash are thrown in jail there will never be parity between the citizens and the pigs.

This is disgusting on so many levels. Thirty three rounds on a call to disperse a loud crowd? For a single dog, nevermind an eight month old puppy. What's worse is that they are actually trying to justify this sort of outrageous response... Shameful. The blame for this should rest entirely on the shoulders of the two morons responsible for this and they should be resign from their positions immediately before they bring anymore shame on the Camden police force.
