Kashif Patterson arrested for allegedly murdering Johnnie Maddox in Salem

police122209_optSalem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan announced the arrest of a Salem man accused in the May 23 murder of Johnnie Maddox, of Philadelphia.

According to Lenahan, Kashif Patterson, whose street name is "Boo Dog," was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose as he sat in jail on unrelated charges, Today's Sunbeam reported.

"The arrest of Kashif Patterson is a result of many hours, days and weeks of work," said Lenahan, according to Today's Sunbeam. "The dedicated men and women of law enforcement in Salem County again have shown their relentless determination to make our county safe..."

"I want to commend all law enforcement personnel involved in this investigation especially detectives from the Salem County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Salem City Police Department," said Lenahan.

Prosecutors say on May 23 around 11 p.m., Patterson, 25, allegedly shot Maddox, 31, multiple times as he stood on the porch of a home in the 200 block of Sinnickson Street. When police arrived, they found two males attempting to place a mortally wounded Maddox in a vehicle.

Maddox was transferred to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. from a Salem County Hospital where he clung to life for 12 days before succumbing to his injuries.
