The “James Bond Gang” is riding again, and allegedly burglarizing well-off towns in New Jersey.

A group of between 30 and 50 burglars is believed to be responsible for dozens of burglaries in Morris and Somerset County over the past 18 months.

Police said the latest burglary took place in Chatham Township and was recorded on surveillance video, according to CBS New York. One suspect with his face covered walked right to the front door of the home and bumped the double door several times with his rear to break it open, police said.

After the men got inside, they disabled the home security system, and pulled the plugs on the cameras.

The James Bond Gang got their name from burglars who used 007-like BMWs to escape back in the 1980s, according to Teaneck Patch. The group is said to have its roots in Teaneck and Englewood.

According to nj.com, New Providence Deputy Chief of Police Scott Torre said the burglars usually steal jewelry and cash because the gold in the jewelry can be melted down within 24 hours and cannot be identified.

Observer-Tribune News reports that the gang is thought to be responsible for 7 or 8 of 12 residential burglaries in Harding Township this year.

Several men were arrested for burglaries in Bergen County in 2011. Police believe new criminals take over after gang members are jailed, and the James Bond Gang has been around for three or more generations.
