So by now we’ve all learned from Harold Camping that we’re going to receive our final judgment on May 21st.

Just who exactly is Camping, and how did he get the early line of our eternity?

In 1958 Camping was part of a group that formed the non-profit ministry of Family Radio. According to familyradio.com, Camping later became a full-time volunteer employer of Family Radio serving as President and General Manager.

Family Radio began the program Open Forum in 1961. It is a live weeknight call-in show, and Camping serves as host. Open Forum is broadcasted on Family Radio’s more than140 stations in the U.S. Open Forum is also translated into many foreign languages and is broadcast worldwide through Shortwave, and its own network of AM / FM stations.

Camping told Radio Survivor that Open Forum began because Family Radio was not getting any help from any churches and was running out of money. “The idea was that if I would get behind the mike as President and answer questions about finances or music policy, that might encourage people to give. So, we opened the phone lines and listeners didn’t ask any questions about finances or music, but they asked counseling and Bible questions,” he said.

Along the way, Camping has been the author of about 30 books and booklets. He is 89 years old, and some late night comics are saying he might be gone soon anyway. But he says the Rapture is absolutely going to happen, with no question at all.

New York Magazine asked Camping about his prediction of the end in 1994, and he said: "In 1992 I had already begun to see that there was a good likelihood that 2011 would be the end, but at that time my research in the Bible was not nearly complete. I wrote a book, 1994?, but I put a question mark after it, and indicated that 2011 was also a good possibility."

Harold Camping explained that the whole world will be alerted that Judgment Day has begun by about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and there will be this tremendous earthquake that makes the last earthquake in Japan seem like nothing in comparison.
